I have my beautiful friend Iana here for a hair tutorial today! It’s the fastest way to jazz up a simple ponytail, so if you struggle with doing your hair, but you want to break out of a boring ponytail rut, try this!

To prep Iana’s hair and add a bit of texture, I curled it with a 1 1/4 inch iron and tousled it with texture spray to finish. If you’d like to watch a video tutorial to see how that is done, check this one!

To start, gather a top layer of hair at the crown, push up, and pin in place. This is an easy way to get lift at the crown if your hair really falls flat or is very, very fine.

Next, grab all but two sections on either side of your face, and pull into a low-ish ponytail. At this point you can also slide those initial bobby pins out since the ponytail elastic will hold everything in place!

Starting on either side, split the front section in half, and twist over each other until you reach the end of the hair.

Then, starting at the bottom, work your way back towards the root area and pull softly on the twist.

Wrap the twist around the top of the ponytail, and pin in place.

Repeat on the other side, wrapping around the top of the ponytail as well, and secure with another pin (or two!)

The twists will cover up the elastic, and look intricate and interesting paired with a simple pony! Finish with a mist of Kenra Volume 25 to make sure everything stays in place!
