If you love to use products like I do, you may find that overtime you’ll develop some less than ideal hair issues. This isn’t always the case, but it’s never a bad idea to try to counteract the potentially unpleasant actions of one product with another.

For my texture lovers, if you use a sea salt spray to add some bulk and texture to your otherwise lifeless hair, make sure you are conditioning generously with a good, nourishing conditioning product. Always use regular rinse-out conditioner on the daily, but add a leave-in into your routine as well. Most sea salt sprays are incredibly drying. And while they can give hair a really cool effect, if overused you may end up having to cut some length off due to irreparable ends. Avoid getting to that point by pairing a leave-in conditioning spray with your sea salt spray.

Are you beating humidity and flyways with a smoothing cream? Smoothing creams are fantastic for adding a little bit of weight to the hair in order to help it lay down and stay straight. Unfortunately, build up of heavy products can lead to a waxy feeling on the hair shaft. It can also make hair a lot heavier than it needs to be. Use a clarifying shampoo once a week or so to clean off the hair shaft and avoid build up. If you color your hair, look for a clarifying shampoo that is safe for color!

Are you an avid hairspray user like I am? Good. But also bad because hairspray can be rather drying. Make sure you use a deep conditioner a couple times a month to keep your locks in tip-top shape. The way I look at it, I’ll never stop using hair spray, but I will attempt to counteract the dryness with a super nourishing deep conditioner.
